In the game of life, there are millions of people trying to do the same thing you are. They want to find a date also. There is a difference between the majority of them and you. You have values, you have standards, you have a strong faith in your God. You are a Christian, with your whole being. So how does that make you different? Your values, morals, and respect levels are higher than many others. You have chosen to follow God’s laws and Commandments throughout your life.

This means living honestly and faithfully to God. It means staying pure until you are married. It means continuing your faith with your partner and believing that God has you covered in all aspects. Finding a person who shares your beliefs and all else is extremely difficult. Being a Christian means that Jesus is the most important being in your life. To find another person that believes that can be tiring, but there is no reason to give up.

For many Christians, the challenge lies in the fact of not dating just anyone. Most Christians will hold off dating if they do not see the date as a potential marriage partner. This does lead to many lost chances at love; however, you know you want someone with a strong faith to match yours. Yet, there are many Christians who go ahead and take the chance and start dating someone who is very interesting to them. This takes courage to be strong enough to remain faithful to your beliefs. Dating someone who is not a Christian puts the relationship at a disadvantage right at the start. The longer it continues, the harder it becomes to reconcile your feelings about the person and your values and beliefs in your faith. Dating a non-Christian can lead to emotional heartache, which is why many Christians avoid the situation.

For the current generation, sex has become a mainstay to what one would consider everyday normal. The hook-up is casual dating, where it is easy to find a short term partner. In these relationships, there is no commitment further than the personal gratification that night. For many Christians, this can lead to marriage rather quickly. The sexual urges they feel and desire to feel are overwhelming, so the talk of marriage is rushed into. At his point, it is likely that they hardly know each other. Some minor points, such as looks, likes, and tastes may be evident; however, the deeper roots of values, beliefs, and faith, have probably never been spoken about. So many times being a young Christian seems brutal. As though you are doomed no matter what you do. Someone or both are in for a letdown. That is not true, though! Have faith in that.

Is online dating accepted by Christians today? There is no harm in meeting some people online. It may not be as easy to meet a Christian online. There are, however, many dating sites for Christians. What others fill in as answers on their profile may be what they believe others want to see. When you meet these people in person, it is not that way at all. As far as faith, God does want all Christians to teach others about the word of God. When it comes to being a couple, building on your faith together is the goal. Christians know where they stand when it comes to boundaries. Their date is the one who cannot handle those boundaries. Many may also state that there are mixed signals when they date a Christian.

Again, it is because that person cannot handle boundaries. Christians are like others in what they feel. Their belief is to be pure until they are married. To reiterate, society today has become one where sex is the standard that relationships are built on. One important aspect to consider is that you are not looking for a partner who is there to complete you. The partner is to be next to you in all areas of life.

Yes, there was a time not long ago, where if a male was interested in a female, they had to ask the father for permission to court his daughter. Courting is not the same as dating. There is no physical closeness more than hand-holding. During these times, it was expected that the courting led to marriage…always. If it did not, there was a problem.

Today when two people decide to date, they build a friendship, and maybe in time, that will blossom into more. This is true for Christians and non-Christians.

So The Truth Is

In all reality, the only difference of Christian dating is there is no value put forth towards sexual intimacy. That is not considered until marriage has taken place. In general, society is too fixated on sex between two people instead of building on their relationship towards that ultimate outcome. They live for God and pleasing God, not themselves.
