Should I Date A Younger Man?

In today’s world, what is the issue of dating a younger man about? Certainly not about dating a guy that is younger than you. Since the old days, we have come to a distance that it was considered taboo for a woman to date younger men. It has always been accepted as okay for an older man to date a younger female. No one can fully explain that. However, I would wager that it is basically the same number of reasons that a woman wants to date a younger guy.

Maturity

Before you do decide to hook up with a guy younger than you, two things to beware of. First, be sure he is of legal age, and secondly, look for one who may be a little more mature than a normal guy his age.

Be Sure You Know

Sit down and have a talk with yourself. List out what it is that you want in a relationship. A relationship will not stay hinged if it is just wild sex you are after. That is a boy toy you are looking for, not a relationship.

Commitment

A younger man will likely not be ready for a serious commitment yet. If you just want fun and simple dating, maybe wild sex, this is the guy you should seek out. People believe that younger men do not want commitment, so women need to stick with older men in order to settle down.

Not So Say Many

All over the world, you will find couples that have the age disparity between them. Hollywood has many couples that have a difference in their ages, women to men. Couples such as Cameron Diaz, Cher, and Shakira and her man. These couples range from 5 to ten years difference.

This goes to show that it is not necessarily true that the younger guys are not mature enough to deal with a relationship.

Sowing Oats

Of course, many of these younger men may be deciding to be in open relationships so that they can continue playing the field or sowing their wild oats before settling down. The mixed-age couple may decide that it is fine and have an open relationship.

Different Meanings

Commitment means different things to different people. For many, a serious relationship might mean dating exclusively. To others, serious may mean sex with just one and the ability to date others.

Commonalities

This is not to say that you have to have everything in common, but there should be a little more than just one or two things in common. This can help keep the separation at bay due to the age and a number. There are times when the age gap is bigger; there is much less in common.

Dating a Younger Man

When an older woman is dating a younger man, this may help her emotional well being and also how she feels about herself. However, being in a relationship such as this for the reason of feeling better about herself is the wrong logic that she is using. She needs to feel good before she gets into this type of relationship. When you are out on a date with this person, how does it make you feel? Do insecurities start to creep in when you see the younger males with younger females? Do you feel secure in your relationship with him, even in that situation?

Be sure that the relationship is based on mutual feelings and not some other reason; such as being taken advantage of.

I personally knew of a relationship in which the woman was 60 years of age when she started dating a guy in his 30’s. This was decades ago, so it was considered that the guy was taking advantage of the woman. This couple remained together for another 20 years until she passed away. Her family did not hide their disdain in regards to the guy. However, when all was said and done after the funeral (which he paid for), the family was given the enormous wealth she had accumulated, and he had insisted that is the way he wanted it. All he received was a house that was run down and falling apart.

I can not lie; I was one of many who had doubts about this relationship. My viewpoint changed drastically when I saw the grief he was feeling and then heard what he had done in order to ensure the family was given all the money.

So the point is, love can and often is found by women dating younger men. The decision is ultimately yours; think about what you want, how you feel, and then do not worry about what others think. Live your life, and live for the love you share.
